A Bit of Background

The TotalPay® Card, combines the resources and expertise of two industry leaders Automatic Data Processing, Inc (NYSE: ADP), and Money Network. ADP has been paying people in the US for over 56 years and is the largest payroll/payables payment provider in the U.S. Money Network was founded in December of 2001, though the Money Network paycard was initially conceived and developed in 1994. Together ADP and Money Network provide the TotalPay Card to over 3,000 companies.

Before I tell you all the details of the card, know that this is more of a Payment “System.”  While everyone will receive a card you do not have to actually use it.  Receiving it will give you access to have all your MPM commissions deposited directly into your bank account, or you can use one of the “Trans-checks” to access your funds.  Many people will use it as a Debit Card, but that is your choice.

What is the TotalPay Card?

The TotalPay Card is a STAR debit card on which My Power Mall will load your commissions. It provides many options for using the money once it’s loaded on the cards. Here are some of the features of the TotalPay Card:

So What Does it Cost?

This is the really awesome part. Once you’ve purchased your card and had your commission loaded each month, you can get your money for free at an Allpoint ATM, via ACH to your bank or via a TransCheck. (See highlighted lines below.) The fees to use the card at other ATMs and for purchases at stores are typical or lower that typical for any other bank card you may have.

VISA Upgrade – Money Network also offers members the opportunity to upgrade to a TotalPay VISA, which provides signature access wherever VISA is accepted. The VISA program is totally optional to you and is managed entirely by Money Network. You should be aware that there are additional fees related to the VISA card that are charged by Money Network. This program is outlined in the information that arrives with your debit card.

For Our International Members:

Non-US, or international members receive their commissions through International Global Xchange (IGZ), a Canadian-based company that acts as an interface to Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC). HSBC (www.hsbc.com) is a very well respected global bank.  In Canada and Europe, HSBC is as highly respected and is as large as Citibank (actually larger in Canada). Despite the name, HSBC is incorporated in England and headquartered in London. HSBC has thoroughly evaluated International Global Xchange and gives it top marks for security and integrity. IGX has been in existence for four years and I spoke with several companies that have been using them to pay members for that long and there has not been a single security issue.

When we send commissions for international members to IGX, we send the amount the member is to be paid and their “payment email address” as entered in their back office. IGX sets up an e-wallet (a virtual bank account with HSBC) for the member and sends the member an email (actually, Marilyn writes the email, but it goes out from IGX’s domain name), informing them they have received commission.  The first time a member gets paid, IGX establishes their e-wallet and the email that goes out has a link for the member to set up their personal information with the bank for their e-wallet.  If the member has previously received commissions through IGX, either from us or another company that uses IGX for payment, the link in the email will simply be to their e-wallet.  IGX charges members $1.00 US management fee at the time we send commissions to the member.  Members wishing to reduce the management fees can set their minimum payment amount in their back office to a higher amount, anything up to and including $100 US.

When the member first establishes their account and e-wallet, they are required to set up a password and other security verification information (mother’s maiden name, name of first pet, name of favorite author, etc.) and provide their full name and address, phone number and 2 types of government issued ID, like a drivers’ license number, passport number, voters registration card, etc.  This personal information is used in the event the member needs to contact IGX about their e-wallet.  The personal information is used to verify the caller is the person to whom the e-wallet is registered.

Several international members have questioned the need for 2 government issued ID numbers, saying they don’t have a driver’s license or passport and their country doesn’t issue voter registration cards. Neither IGX nor HSBC has the authority to verify that the number you provide for a driver’s license is actually a registered driver’s license issued to the person in question. All they use the information for is to verify that the caller can repeat the number previously entered, for example, their driver’s license. So, if the member does not have a government issued ID, they should use a number that they can always remember should they be asked to provide it.

Members in Austria, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Latvia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Slovenia, and United Kingdom (includes England, Scotland and Ireland), can transfer their commission payment directly to their bank account – if they have one. Members in India, Japan, Mexico, Philippines and South Africa will have this direct deposit capability very soon.

All other members can purchase a debit card from IGX and transfer their money to the debit card, which can be used at ATMs and POS terminals all over the world. Members also have the choice of eight currencies in which to accept their money and IGX is adding more every four months. Currently they are Australian dollars, Canadian dollars, Euros, Hong Kong dollars, Indian rupees, Mexican pesos, New Zealand dollars, Philippine pesos, Singapore dollars, Taiwan dollars and US dollars. (For an up-to-date list check on the IGX web site.)

Now, we already know all of you are asking, "How much is this card going to cost us?" How about nothing? :) Right now every U.S. member pays $3.00 for the administrative cost of being paid (except for World Changer Mall members). We've been able to work a deal where that will not change. International members will have a different card, and the sheer reality of banking costs for International members will make the costs a little higher but, again, Marnie analyzed many companies to find the very best one. This I know - everyone will be pleased. :)

One more VERY IMPORTANT thing – once you’ve generated a commission (regardless of the amount) you will be asked (via a pop-up window) to update your information in your back office. This is information required by the banking industry and we cannot pay your commissions until you update your information. For a short video explaining how to update your information, go here: http://www.mypowermall.net/UpdateMyInfo.html

The MPM Team

Shopping Tip:  Even those of us who are on tight budgets have to purchase items every month, like toilet paper, toothpaste, napkins, etc. There are a number of stores on your MPM mall that carry everyday items like these as well as hard-to-find items. Plan ahead so you can get free shipping. In addition, you can purchase 100% of these items with your American Express Gift Card -- ensuring you make money with every penny you spend!

Business Building Tip: Place classified ads in free local papers (like Thrifty Nickel, PennySaver, etc.). It will cost around $25 (Robin Hancock, Illinois).  You can place your ad in the Help Wanted section as well. Use this same ad in emails and online. (Thomas Byrne, New York).

Change the World Tip: The month of May is National Military Appreciation Month. Go to www.NMAM.org for a list of events in the month of May where you can show your support of our military personnel and different ways you can participate.  (From our 101 Ways to Support Our Troops ebook)
