Power Bite # 54 - Feel The Fear And DO It Anyway
Hello MPM Member,
Some of you may experience the feeling of dread or fear when faced with approaching people about MPM. Some people can very naturally talk to others. For many, the idea of talking to someone - to anyone – is a reason for white-knuckled terror. :)
Below is a letter Ginny wrote that deals with the issue of fear and what it can do to you personally, as well as to your MPM business.
Feel the Fear
Welcome to a new day of creating the life you dream of for you and your family! No matter what you have done, or not done, to this point in your life - changing that is as simple as making a decision. Notice I didn't say easy - but it is simple. You simply need to make a decision to live the rest of your life differently than you have lived the first part of it. I don't care if you're 13 or 103. As long as you're still breathing, I believe there is purpose for your being here and you can make the rest of your life fulfilling and exciting.
The same is true for your MPM business. No matter what you've done, or not done, to this point, you can make a decision to create exactly what you dream of that made you join in the first place. All of us have dreams. All of us also have fears. I was talking with one of my neighbors yesterday after I went for a long swim in the lake with her 11 year old daughter. It was such a beautiful afternoon so I settled down to bask in the sun and talk for a few minutes. She was talking about her job and I could tell she wasn't exactly thrilled with it so I decided to ask my favorite question. "If you could do anything, what would it be?"
Her eyes lit up as she described the store she would like to have. When she fell silent I asked her, "What keeps you from doing it?"
She looked down for a moment, then met my eyes. "Fear of failure," she said softly.
How many of us struggle with that? I know I do. There have been so many times in the last 5 years that I have been so afraid all our work was for nothing. There were times I wanted to walk away, get a job, and not have the pressure of building this company. There were two things that kept me going:
1) I truly believe I have been given this to do in the world. Together We Can Change The World and My Power Mall is so much bigger than me - so much bigger than the 60 people who helped me found it - and so much bigger than all of you. We have only scratched the surface of the impact we are going to have on the world.
2) I'm a horrible employee. :) I think I make a pretty good boss but I'm not good at being somewhere at a certain time, nor being told what to do. :) It's much better for me to run my own company so I kept pressing forward. My fear of working a JOB was greater than my fear of failure!
It's okay to be afraid. If we're honest, every single one of us will admit to feeling that at one time or another. It's what we do with that fear that will determine how we live our lives. One of my favorite sayings is, Feel the Fear and do it ANYWAY! As you build your business or live your life, you are going to run in to many things that make you afraid. That's okay. Feel the fear. But then go and DO the things you are afraid of. The very act of doing it will make you less fearful - until you find yourself walking in more and more power.
We believe in you!

Shopping Tip: As you can imagine, we have many stores that would like to have access to our My Power Mall members! If you know of a store you'd like added, or if you've been asked by a merchant how they can join the MPM mall, we have created a document that describes the process they need to follow. Check your Back Office in the FAQ section or go here: http://mypowermall.net/Resources/StoreApplyforMyPowerMall.pdf
Business Building Tip: Send postcards via snail mail. Email leads at $1 each can be deleted at the click of a mouse and are gone forever. A good postcard that piques the receiver's interest, and lays around before being tossed in the trash, can be cost effective. (Alex Mandossian suggests not putting the company logo on this kind of card. Mandossian has an ebook costing $250 but gives away the first 3 chapters for free and it has a lot of information in it. Change the World Tip: Go out with your family at least one hour a week to clean up trash around your neighborhood, on your road, or somewhere else you know needs cleaning up. (From our 101 Ways to Change the World ebook)

You have also chosen, in most cases, how you are going to be treated by others."
